The 49ers offense is home to many of the league’s playmakers including the likes of Brock Purdy, Cmc and ect. In 2023 we had 2 out of the top 5 mvp candidates in the league and managed to keep all of them going into 2024. This year they continued to work out over the off-season and we got even more players we see stepping up this year. These are a couple of players to look out for this season and we think are MVP candidates.
Christian Mccaffery
Starting off with the list we got our honorable mention: Christian Mccaffrey. Cmc was a recent addition to the team being traded to the Niners in the 2022 midseason. From there on we never looked back and Cmc became the keypoint of the entire offense. He finished the season with 1,139 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Niners. With Brock Purdy tearing his MCL in the NFC Championship we lost against the eagles because we had no Qb. The next season for CMC would be his best yet. He took over the league helping Brock Purdy break out of his shell into an elite Qb. Being so good that we were undefeated for most of the season and getting the #1 seed in the NFC. We would make it all the way to the superbowl and just come short. In the most depressing way to end the season we lost the superbowl and the great season that we had gets pushed to the side. But without a doubt the highlight of the season was this man CMC going crazy. He finished the season with 1,459 yds and 14 touchdowns and won the offensive player of the year. The reason that he is only an honorable mention is sadly he hurt his achilles during camp this year. We later found out that he has achilles tendonitis which may end up cutting his season and possibly career short. We send out our prayers and sadly our MVP may not play this year.
Brock Purdy
The man at the helm taking ahead of the offense our next MVP is of course Brock Purdy. If you were not there for the last 10 years you do not know how miserable the quality of Qb play has been in the past. I don’t think anyone was expecting anything out of the 2022 mr.irrelevant and being the last pick. This draft pick is notoriously known for being a joke. It means no one expects anything of you and that’s okay. This man as soon as he stepped on the field a star was born. He is the only rookie to ever beat Tom Brady and he did it in his first game. That season he led us to the NFC championship and only lost because of playing without Brock for most of the game because of an MCL tear. He took the next season by storm by leading us to a 9 and 0 start. Starting his MVP type season and taking over the league. No one wanted to believe that this kid was the best quarterback in the league and everyone had at least 7 opportunities to take him. He would finish the regular season with 4280 yds and 31 touchdowns. This is the regular season record for passing yards for a Niner and this was in his first full season. Brock Purdy set himself as a star but no one wanted to admit it. So all he’s done is establish himself as the best passer in the league and is the front runner for 49ers MVP.
Fred Warner
The defense doesn’t get enough love for how important they are. The man holding the defense together is Fred Warner. I grew up watching this man ball at BYU. I always knew he was a special player. What he has become is greater than anyone could’ve seen coming. He is the most complete linebacker since our very own Patrick willis. He brought back the position to the greatness it had in the early 2000’s. Fred is a bullet in human form playing football. Last year he led linebackers in pff rating. That’s not that special for Fred considering that he has done that for the last 4 years. Last year his stats were 132 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and 4 ints. For his position group those are elite. He’s already started the year incredibly and looks like a frontrunner for DPOY and possibly MVP. His stat line against the Vikings is possibly the best for any player all year. 11 total tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 1 int. He was absolutely everywhere and it’s a shame we lost because it was the best defensive performance of the year.
Jauan Jennings
The last player that we’re going to talk about today for 49ers MVP candidates may come to shock you. It is none other than: Jauan Jennings. Our should’ve been SuperBowl MVP making a statement this year. After the Aiyuk money situation and with him threatening to leave And demanding a trade. Jauan decided to take a pay cut and stay loyal to the faithful fans of the bay. Jauan has been nothing short of amazing. He steps up in every moment that we need him. It seems like this man can do no wrong. His football IQ is off the charts and always seems to clutch every situation. Throughout all the injuries that the Niners suffer he has shown that he is a number one wide receiver. Last year he lived for third down and led the league in third down conversions. The playoffs when we needed him most always seemed to pull through. It’s a recurring theme that he stands by. After that year we wanted to keep seeing big things from him but we still have Deebo and Aiyuk. That all changed after Deebo’s injury and Aiyuk’s absence. He stepped into the role of Wr1 and is having a career year. His stats on the season so far are 377 receiving yds and 3 tds. Also having a career game in a loss against the rams with 175 receiving yds and 3 td’s. He is one of our MVP’s and could be possibly looking at an all-pro year.
